When Boomer passed away, Pastor Will came over within a few hours. He knew how much Boomer meant to us.
As we spoke with Pastor Will, it suddenly occurred to us that Boomer was the reason that we ended up attending Liberty Church (and for this we are eternally grateful to Boomer).
In 2002 our family was attending a start-up church (AVCF). One Sunday Chip and Dawne Studley visited the church. They had relocated from Florida, and we invited them over to our house for dinner. They really enjoyed Boomer.
In Feb/March 2003, the Todd Family had planned a six-week cross country camping trip, and we needed someone to watch Boomer. We knew that the Studleys were looking for a place to stay, so they stayed at our house and cared for Boomer for 6 weeks! During that winter the snow was heavy, and the Studleys took the picture above of Boomer in our back yard with all the snow.
Over the course of time, they ended up visiting Liberty Church, which had been built a couple of years earlier, right around the corner from our house. We didn’t even know about it.
They called us several times to invite us to the church, but we never took them up on their offer. In the summer of 2003, however, Becky was playing so much travel softball that we couldn’t go to Sunday morning services. The Studleys told us that Liberty had a Saturday night service, so we visited.
We’ve been going to Liberty ever since.
Thanks to Boomer.
