When we arrived home from our trip out West in the summer of 2000, Katy and I began to look for Golden Retriever breeders. We found the Yankee Golden Retriever Club website, and we began contacting breeders until we found Dianne McDonough of ToryGlen Goldens in Carver, MA. She was having a litter in October of 2000. We told her that we would like one of her puppies, pending a visit first.
On October 12, 2010, Boomer was born. We hadn’t met him yet, but Dianne told us that the only choice we had was a male pup who was one of the last ones born in the litter.
We decided to tell the kids by writing a letter from Santa. We watched as Becky went out to the mailbox, saw a letter from the North Pole, ripped it open, and ran screaming into the house “We’re getting a dog named Boomer!”. She was just starting 3rd grade, and Matthew was in 1st grade.
All that was left to seal the deal was go make our first visit. If you look at the 2 pictures below, it’s easy to see that we fell in love right away!
