Matthew, Boomer, and I had set up our tent at the base of Bond Cliff Trail and we decided to hike back in on the East Side Trail (instead of our traditional Wilderness Trail route). The Wilderness Trail was completely flat because it used to be a railroad bed, but the East Side Trail had many more ups and downs to it.
As we got closer the suspension bridge, we arrived at this beautiful spot near the Pemi river.
When coming down the final hill to reach the suspension bridge, Boomer seemed to lag behind a bit!
And finally, after 5+ miles, we reached the other side of the suspension bridge where we had been with the Holts the day before!
We finally reached our tentsite, and it was nice not to have to set up the tent. The first thing we did was build a fire, and we decided to burn my underwear that we had used the night before to clean up Boomer’s puke
It had been a long day of hiking. We had climbed several miles on the Welsh Dickey loop, and then hiked 6 or so miles on the East Side of the Pemi. Boomer was tired!
He would need his rest, because the next day we would get up and hike up to Bond Cliff. At the top of Bond Cliff we would take one of my most favorite pictures of Boomer.
